We were hoping for a full report on the parking survey at the Sutton local Committee meeting on 7 June, and are disappointed that it is not ready yet. Of the 43,000 surveys that were delivered, the Council received 5,500 responses with some very detailed comments and suggestions. All the responses are being analysed on a road by road basis.
The austerity cuts to local government have severely restricted our ability to carry out important services. However we put aside some extra funding for this project and a new full time officer has now been employed to provide further support. It is important that the proposals are detailed and comprehensive and fully consider the displacement issues across adjoining roads.
Officers are proposing to go out to an Informal Stage 2 Consultation with detailed proposals probably in early September, to avoid the summer holidays. This will present design options and propose specific parking solutions where residents have requested them and we are keen for as many people as possible to be involved and have their say.
