Ward councillors will oppose the development of the allotment land at Planning Committee on 3 February

by Sam, Ruth and Chris on 11 January, 2021

The planning application for nine houses on the Woodend/ Greenhill allotment land will come to the February Planning Committee.  The proposal (No. DM2019/00322) is to build nine two storey houses with accommodation at roof level together with parking, a new vehicle access from Woodend, landscaping, provision of open space, pavilion and allotment plots.

For further details of the application see our post in June last year.

The allotment land has not been used as such for some years, but Marlene and Ruth worked hard with local residents some years ago to ensure that the area was designated by the Council as an ‘Urban Green Space’.  Previous attempts to develop this land were opposed by your councillors and have been refused by the Council.  Council officers are likely to recommend that the Planning Committee approves the application.  Your ward councillors will be asking for it to be rejected.

The Planning Committee now meets by video link, due to the COVIC-19 pandemic.  The officer report for the application will be available about ten days before the Committee meeting on this page of the Council web site.  Residents are able to submit a Written Statement and/or nominate someone to speak at the meeting.  Requests to do so can be sent in via this link, once the agenda is published.

The meeting will be broadcast online.  You will find the link for this at the top of the agenda for the meeting, once the agenda has been published.
