Residents continue to express their concern on traffic issues in the road, including out of hours buses.  We recently met with Transport for London, Go-Ahead buses and with Sutton Council officers to discuss these issues.

As a result new light-up speed warning signs will be installed near the junction with Chaucer Road in the next few weeks.  Also the Council will look at the feasibility of a ‘bus gate’ at the by- pass end of the road.  The bus gate would allow buses through but would record other heavy vehicles that are breaking the weight restriction.

Officers are looking at proposals to share the twice-weekly tanker journeys to the bus garage with other roads and to reduce the number of ‘out of hours’ bus journeys.  GoAhead have been monitoring bus speeds since September and taking action where the speed limit is exceeded.  It has resulted in a reduction in speeds.

We will continue to actively press for solutions to these long running problems, and report back to residents.
