Local Councillors Ruth Dombey, Marlene Heron and Steve Penneck are concerned at the impact that the increased use of Sutton Bus Garage has had on the local community.
It results in very frequent out of service buses along Collingwood and Bushey Roads, especially at night. We are concerned about the vibration and the effect it has on homes, the air pollution, the noise, the impact of the fuel tankers, the traffic congestion, especially in Bushey Road alongside the bus garage, and the litter outside the garage.
We are aware that this bus garage is the only one in south London to be located in a residential area. Ruth Dombey has written to Go-Ahead London and Transport for London to ask for a meeting to urgently consider relocating the garage to a non-residential location. An opportunity for this will come when Sutton Council begins in this coming year to review the Sutton Local Plan which sets out the planning rules for the borough.

I live on 4 Bushey Lane exactly in front of the bus garage.
Although in principle I don’t anything against the bus garage location it has become increasingly difficult to deal with the traffic and all noises coming out of the garage specially.
Sometimes it becomes very difficult to find car park as many drivers and other employees will park in our area during night, not to mention it can become noisy when they take breaks during late hours and all the buses parking out of the garage.
We moved to this area back in January 2021 and out intention is to stay in Sutton as we have two little boys but it is uncertain if we’re staying in this address for the long run due to the bus garage and tyre shop at 1 Bushey Lane which also tends to be quite noisy,
