Resurfacing of Montrose and part of Monksdene Gardens is being carried out today (Thursday 23rd August). The works will involve adjusting any iron works, as necessary, and relaying a 25mm top surface. All of the works will be carried out during the day under a road closure.
Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Affected residents have been informed by letter, and traffic diversions are in place.
Funding for road repairs will be very limited in future years following the Government’s austerity cuts. Traditionally Sutton has funded the repair of local roads, while Transport for London (TfL) has responsibility for main roads.
