Trees in Sutton North in good shape

by Sam, Ruth and Chris on 20 April, 2020

All the street trees in our area have been inspected in the last few months.  This is part of a programme of regular inspections of street trees across the Borough.  Street trees add a lot to our street scene, as well as providing an important contribution to sustaining wildlife and combatting climate change.

We have nearly 900 trees in our area, and they need regular maintenance to keep in good shape.  As a result of the inspection, some tree pruning will now be taking place.

The Council does not remove healthy trees.  Unfortunately a small number of trees – three in Collingwood Road, three in Sutton Common Road and one in Greenhill – have been found to be severely diseased or damaged and will need to be removed.  Some of these make a significant contribution to the landscape, and we will be asking the Local Committee for funding for replacements.
