Here’s a round-up of local news and what we have been doing as your local Councillors in the past couple of months:
Sutton Local Committee
The Sutton Local Committee in November included a presentation from local police officers who reviewed our area crime statistics and answered residents’ concerns. There was a presentation from Sutton Women’s Centre and a discussion about local funding as well as an update of the Library of Things. Members of the public were invited to ask their questions.
Community events
Ruth and Sam attended the Remembrance Day service in Manor Park and also took part in the silent vigil in Sutton High Street to call for peace in Gaza and Israel. Ruth also attended a boroughwide Met event to hear about policing issues in our area as well as a Women’s Summit to discuss women’s safety issues. She was very honoured to be asked to hand out awards to our Volunteer Police Cadets at their Annual Review.
Friends of Sutton Green
Sam has been attending their monthly litter picks. We would like to say thank you for all their hard work making Sutton Green and Victoria Gardens such a wonderful place to visit.
Rosehill Park West
Funding has been approved for a new path in Rosehill Park West starting from the car park to the western entrance at the bypass. A big thank you to the Friends of Rosehill Parks who work so hard to keep both parks tidy and well-looked after. Sadly the toilets in the park have been badly vandalised and we are seeking funding to repair the extensive damage.
