It was an interesting meeting at Sutton Local Committee last week with all our local community and Friends groups represented as well as several local residents.
Our local Police Sergeant was there to give us an update. And Sutton Community Farm gave a presentation about the great work they do to produce fresh produce. You can find out more at http://suttoncommunityfarm.org.uk/ and sign up for their veggie boxes or volunteer.
We heard more about the Council’s exciting plans to regenerate the High Street and introduce more community and cultural spaces alongside retail and more opportunities for business start ups.
We also agreed to apply for funding to Transport for London for three traffic schemes:
– pedestrian crossings and 20mph speed limit in Collingwood Road area between Bushey Road and Robin Hood Lane;
– two-wheel pavement parking in Stayton, Dibdin and Marlborough Roads to help the buses get through;
– junction alterations in Westmead and Lower Roads to improve sightlines and 20mph extension.
We’ll let you know if the bids are successful.
The next local committee will be in November. We will let you know when and where it will take place. Everyone living in our area is welcome to attend.
