It is with deep sadness we announce that former councillor Marlene Heron passed away on Tuesday 27 August.
Marlene was a councillor in Sutton North from 2002 to 2006 and from 2010 to 2022. In her time, she helped thousands of people with their individual issues. She held many positions in the council, including Chair of the Sutton Local Committee to Deputy Mayor. She was also Carers Champion and worked closely with the Carers Centre.
Marlene was also a member of the Sutton Housing Partnership Board and her professional background was in tenant participation and she used all that experience and passion to ensure that tenants and leaseholders in Sutton have a strong voice and are involved in the decisions that affect them. She also helped to organise the annual fun day on the Chaucer Estate, the annual fairs at Rosehill Park and Sutton Green and many other events.
Since retiring from the council, she continued to play an active role in the ward while enjoying more time with her family and especially her grandchildren who she doted on.
Marlene will be sorely missed.
