Roads identified as having heavy leaf fall will have leaf clearance once a month in October, November and December.  Roads will be cleaned in order and once all roads in the area have been cleaned, the team will begin again at the start of the round.

The Street Cleansing team has four extra teams of three staff, one for each quarter of the Borough, working on leaf clearance.  This is in addition to the usual street cleansing staff who will continue to litter pick, sweep and clear leaves from all residential streets and shopping areas.

Areas where leaves have gathered due to wind blow are also cleaned.

The Street Cleansing Service provides free bags for disposal of leaves and litter where a resident or group is willing to volunteer to help tidy their street or area.  The bags can be requested by logging a message on the Council’s website or by contacting the Call Centre.  Street Cleansing will collect full bags on request. Bags cannot be used to clear leaves or rubbish from private gardens or property as this  is the responsibility of the property owner.
