Next Sutton Local Committee on Thursday 7 june

by Sam, Ruth and Chris on 3 June, 2018

The next meeting of Sutton Local Committee is on Thurs 7 June at 7pm at the Salvation Army in Benhill Avenue. This is the first meeting after the local elections.
Apart from the usual public question time, a chance to ask questions on any local issue not already on the agenda, there will be a presentation on the new Local Plan, which was recently adopted by the Council.  The Local Plan provides the policy framework which determines planning applications, so here is a chance to ask questions about this important planning framework.
There will also be a presentation by Community Action Sutton (formerly Sutton CVS) which supports and promotes voluntary organisations in the Borough. Their web site is here https://www.suttoncvs.org.uk/about-us/.  We will be hearing about the work they do and the way they can support local groups.
There will also be consideration of the Local Implementation Plan (the LIP), Public Realm projects, and Neighbourhood grants.  The LIP is the committee’s budget allocation for traffic schemes.  We will be considering speed reduction and safety measures in Collingwood Road and a junction improvement at Oakhill Road/ High St.  From our public realm budget we will be considering a litter bin next to the outdoor gym in Rosehill Park, replacement trees on the Hallmead Road side of Sutton Green, a cherry tree for Woodend, and two extra pieces of equipment for the outdoor gym in Chaucer Gardens.
Do come along to find out what’s happening in our area.
