November update

by Sam, Ruth and Chris on 22 November, 2022

It’s been another busy month and your local Lib Dem team has been working hard. Here is a flavour of what we have done:

  • Speaking to local businesses and helping raise awareness of Hate Crime Awareness Week.
  • Helping Friends of Sutton Green with their litter pick and bulb planting.
  • Attended Sutton African & Caribbean Cultural Organisation’s (SACCO) Black History Month finale event.
  • Continuing to tackle the graffiti at Victoria Gardens.
  • Discussed with the council about how we can improve the maintenance of our parks and better support our Friends of parks groups.
  • Took part in the local police ward panel and raised issues of antisocial behaviour, speeding and graffiti in the town centre.
  • Approved better CCTV in Rosehill Park West car park to tackle vandalism.
  • Continuing to help residents with casework.

At October’s Scrutiny committee, Sam questioned officers about funding for a detention basin to drain excess water and mitigate flooding in Rosehill Park West.

The next Sutton Local Committee will be taking place on Wednesday 30 November at 7pm at Sutton United Football Club, Gander Green Lane, SM1 2EY. Do come along as there will be a chance to ask questions and join in with public discussion about our area. You can look at the agenda here.

Our Focus newsletters will be landing on your doormats over the next few weeks so look out for them.

We also hold ward surgeries on the second Saturday of every month (except August and Bank holiday weekends). This is a great way to speak to your ward councillors in person to talk about issues you have about our area. They are held at Sainsbury’s in Sutton High Street from 11am to 12pm. No need to make an appointment.
