Parking review – Informal consultation – May 2023

by Sam, Ruth and Chris on 21 May, 2023

Sutton Council is currently gathering initial feedback from residents on changes to parking in some parts of some roads with an informal consultation. These changes are where there are road safety and access concerns, or requests from residents.  The proposed changes are:

Double yellow lines:

  • Alexandra Avenue: Around the roundabout at the end of the cul de sac.
  • Blenheim Road: Short stretch just south of the time limited bay as well as a short stretch opposite no. 19.
  • Cranleigh Gardens: Adding lines outside nos 1 and 1a, joining up with the existing double yellow lines from the entrance of Ashleigh Gardens to the entrance with Angel Hill.
  • Grennell Road: Extending the lines by Rosehill Park East with no loading kerb blips, joining up the existing double yellow lines that lead into Rose Hill Park West and Rosewood Grove.
  • Waverley Avenue: Short stretch from the entrance off Angel Hill to no.1. A short stretch from nos 4 & 6 to no. 12 to join up with existing lines at the corner with Montrose Gardens. Another stretch from no. 16 to no. 30.

Free parking bay:

Woodside Road: Relocation of free parking bay to outside nos 26 & 28.

Blue Controlled Parking Zone (CPZ) extension:

The Blue CPZ was extended in November 2020, which included parts of Benhilton Gardens. The council is consulting residents here on how this is currently working. The council is also consulting on whether to extend the Blue CPZ to Vermont Road and to the rest of Hallmead Road. A map of these proposals can be found here.

Alternatively, you can provide comments in writing to Parking Strategy Review, Highways & Transport, Civic Office, St Nicholas Way, Sutton, SM1 1EA.

These informal consultations will end on 1 June 2023. The feedback will be reviewed and a decision will be made whether or not to move forward with a formal statutory consultation.
